Giving back through volunteering
At Coastline, we’ve always believed in supporting our local community, but in 2019, we decided to take it a step further. That’s how our staff volunteering initiative was born - a grassroots program that allows our team to give back in a truly hands-on way.
Every year, we encourage our staff to take up to three days of paid leave to volunteer with local community groups and not-for-profit organisations. It’s our way of offering a different kind of support to the community we care so deeply about. We know that volunteers are often the heart and soul of community groups, and without them, many essential services simply wouldn’t exist. That’s why we wanted to play our part.
Since the program’s launch, we’ve contributed over 1,400 volunteer hours - a remarkable effort, especially considering the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, which put many in-person activities on hold.
For us, giving back is about more than financial support. We’ve long been committed to donating 5% of our annual operating profits through the Coastline Community Foundation, but we know that time is just as valuable as money. The initiative gives our staff the chance to connect with causes they care about, fostering personal connections and strengthening the communities we serve.
Our volunteers have built meaningful relationships across the Macleay, Hastings, and Manning Valley regions, embodying the values we hold dear: trust, integrity, and community connection.
And while the program is still relatively new, it stands proudly alongside our long-standing Coastline Community Foundation. Since 2002, the Foundation has donated more than $2.5 million in grants, supporting community, arts and culture, the environment, and financial wellbeing.
We’re proud to support local projects not only through donations and grants but also through sponsorship funding from our branch networks. Together, these efforts help us make a lasting impact in the place we’re proud to call home.
