Coastline Community Foundation Inaugural Recipients Smithtown Safety Training Course
Safety Training Course Committee – Smithtown $5000 towards establishing a children’s bike track at the Smithtown Riverside Park. The $5000 grant will be used toward concreting 30 meters of bike track.. Labour will be provided by the Smithtown community. Anglican Parish of Lower Macleay $3500 towards establishing a Community Centre at Hat Head. The $3500 grant will be used to establish a library reading and interview room and a community technical centre for residents and students. 1st Port Macquarie Sea Scout Group $2000 towards replacing a worn out canoe trailer that has travelled between 150,000 and 200,000 kms. The $2000 grant will be used to transport canoes around the State to attend water activities and Group rallies. Bellbrook Public School $2000 towards establishing a Community Research Facility for primary pupils as well as the Bellbrook community. The $2000 grant will go to providing non-fiction books and computer research programs for the newly built library. Collombatti Bush Fire Brigade $5000 towards relocating the Collombatti fire shed to a more central position and provide toilet and shower facilities. The volunteer Collombatti Bush Fire Brigade covers an area of approximately 150 sq km and 800 residents. Their role is to protect life, the environment and property. The existing shed will be relocated to a central location that will reduce response times. It will be better situated for maintenance, crew training and social events. Kempsey Leisure Link $1650 towards purchasing a trailer for wheelchair beach access Kempsey Leisure Link provides social outing for intellectually and physically challenged people on the Macleay. Leisure Link brings people together in a social atmosphere and provides them with a variety of recreational and sporting activities. The $1650 grant will be used to purchase a covered trailer to transport the council owned beach wheelchair out on leisure activities. Tacking Point SLSC $2500 towards purchasing two surf rescue boards to allow the club patrol their beach more effectively. The Tacking Point SLSC patrols Lighthouse beach in Port Macquarie to provide surf safety to the local community and for a high level or tourists. Patrols are on all weekends and public holidays from September to April. The two new surf rescue boards will be used by patrol members in maintaining public safety at Lighthouse Beach. Port Macquarie High School $5000 towards the redevelopment of Port Macquarie High School Grounds The $5000 grant will be used to replace unsightly and inappropriate vegetation with functional species better suited to the teaching and learning environment of the school grounds. To develop an aesthetic and functional outdoor learning area for students to work. To create a wildlife shelter that will support a habitat for native birds and reptiles. Crescent Head Community Preschool $5000 towards redevelopment of outdoor play environment, improvement and upgrade, stage one. The Crescent Head Community Preschool provides Child Care and Pre-School education to children aged 3-5 years in readiness for school entry. The $5000 grant will complete stage 1 of the Outdoor Play Area Project that will include the introduction of larger soft fall areas for climbing structures and meet the height restrictions required by new regulations. |
